Hi,
I have an LS 5.3 powered scarab sprint 18. Running an alpha gen2 with 1.50 gears.

I am going to attempt to convert my drive to a vazer upper gear case to raise my X dim. There is no other way to do it besides chopping up a upper alpha case and making a custom vertical shaft. Seen it done. But dont want to try it.

i was informed that the vazer case is basically a shorty alpha. Same internals and such. Same bolt pattern on bell housing. I can use my lower unit on it and it is a direct bolt on aside from changing the vertical shaft out for the shorter vazer version

I have a few concerns about the bell housing difference, shift cable, oil feed from the reservoir , etc

does anyone have knowledge as to what differences at the mounting flange to bell housing. Or other issues. I was planning on installing my 1.50 upper gear set into the vazer case.

to sum up… alpha transom, trim cyl, alpha lower with vazer shaft… just want to use the short upper case.

Here is my little fella. Roughly 380hp. Best run was 78.6mph. But is dances badly and is unsafe at speed. Have to trim way up and drive the hell out of it to keep it controlled. My plan is to raise the prop closer to the hull line and it should run more level and get some of the hull delta area back on the water, making it more stable. Basically over 55 only the drive and about 18" of hull touch the water. It's kinda like standing on a basketball with 1 foot to drive it like this.
