Merc 9.8 110 questions

This is my first old outboard, not sure what year it is and I am having trouble finding a serial number to reference it, I’d like to remove the carb to check and clean it (which will also be a first for me) but I can’t figure out how and I am having trouble finding a video in which the motor they are working on matches what I have. Any and all suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated

Looks a lot like my 1968 merc 3.9.
I first removed the split pin from the choke lever and remove lever. Cut both fuel hose (replace them) I used generic hose. Remove two small screws holding the filter housing lift out slowly don't lose anything. Unscrew the two small bolts holding the inlet fuel connector. Remove the starter housing (it just lifts up) remove the two carburetor nuts and remove carb. It's tight but it will come out. Note position of everything. You can buy a new FORMED fuel hose but I made a generic work. Replace diagram in fuel pump clean everything. Put it back the way you took it apart. Assembling the new hose is tricky.

Thank you! I am really hoping this solves the issue I am having with how it runs. I am having trouble locating the serial number, I know it is supposed to be on the port side of the swivel bracket but I am still having a hard time locating it, any ideas?

Looks like my 69' so 68 69 somewhere in there
