merc 9.8 110 question

cannot read the serial # on engine, but was wondering about what year it may be.....it's black cover and the cowl release is on the front/lower left side(pull to release).......i have read all the last post's that i could reguarding this engine and have gotten a lot of great info so far,but not without being able to read the #'s will i be able to get an exact year...thanks a bunch

What is the accent color (Red, blue, brown, thin red lines, two red lines on top and bottom of "Mercury")?

it has a blue accent stripe inside the lettered area

To get exact year we need the numbers. But they went to the blue stripe in 1972 so its not older than that.

Also, look on the starboard side of the block for a small,1" round metalic disk.It will look like a freeze plug on an auto engine. The ser# is usually stamped on that disk.
