I have a 83 merc with a in dash ignition switch that needs replacing. The old switch has ten wires, wired into the harness.
2 Black
2 Purple
2 Black/Yellow
2 Red
1 yellow/red
1 yellow/black
New switch has 6 wires of the same colors but only:
1 black
1 purple
1 black/yellow
1 red
1yellow/red
1 yellow black
It is a Merc Switch, can I twist the harness wires that are two of the same color together, and connect them to the one matching color wire on the new switch?
