merc 650 4 cyl wiring help

Hi,
New here to this forum. I recently purchased a mercury 650 65 hp four banger. It runs great so far. Naturally the wires need to be replaced. I am going to possibly remove the harness and just do without it. However if the wires at the base of the harness and ignition are ok then I will just cut and replace the ends that see weather.

Let me explain the wires.
Coming out of the harness-
Red- rectifier ( Small wire) and sol enoid (big wire)
Salmon- Magneto
Grey-Choke
Black- Starter
Yellow- Solenoid

Going out of ignition-
Red
Salmon-Magneto?
Black
Yellow-Solenoid relay?
Grey- choke?
Hairy or white maybe wire?
Big red
Big black

How do I hook up the wires that are currently coming out of my old ignition going to hook up to my new ignition?

The white (hairy wire?) dissapears and does not go to the engine. What is this for and what do i need it if it has anything to do with the choke system!
