merc 5hp won't throttle up

ok guys here goes, 1989 5 hp single cylinder 2 stroke, CD pointless ignition. Starts and idles fine, when you throttle up it tries then bogs and you have to back off to idle or it will quit. It will not run at anything above a high idle. I have tried to pump the bulb while throttling with no effect, I have shot the flywheel with a timing light in the tank and it looks to be advancing properly, It has a fuel pump that is molded to the carb so I can't take a pressure reading but I have installed new diaphrams in it. Anyone have a clue? Could it be related to the strength of the spark? please help!

Have you torn down and thoroughly cleaned the carb, including all passages?
