G'day from the land of oz, this is my first post, really stoked with the abundance of information and willingness to help out!

Just bought a Glastron ssv-177, merc 470 turbo.

cooked the regulator on my second outing and am in the process of installing a Mando alt as pictured in this thread "Thread: Alternator wiring? "

Brackets done, two stator wires capped ( will remove at a later date but i gotta get camping and ski-ing asap),all wires from the regulator removed and capped, four in total, red ,orange ,and the two yellow stator wires. The above mentioned thread says that there is also an orange to be removed from the starter but i dont seem to have one!
The starter has one fat yellow which obviously is power to the starter.
The solenoid has three red wires to the pos side, one is battery main and the other two not sure about. also has a thin yellow with red stripe and a thin purple with a yellow stripe.
Have i done enough here or is there a wire that has to be removed?

As for wiring the Mando, B+ is going straight to the battery, the excite has been hooked to the coil+,was going to send the sense wire to the pos side of the starter solenoid and an earth wire to the block... Is this right ? dont exactly want to stuff an new alt or ony other electrics!

Any help would be appreciated! I'm sure you guys are sick of going over the same old over and over, but none of the posts seem to go into quite enough detail.

Also how hany horse is the turbo'd 470, i havn't really come across any mention of them in the forums?

Thanks in advance for whatever you can do on this topic!

Mercruiser never made the 470 with a turbo. That is something a previous owner stuck on it.

Interesting news there Don, It has only had one owner in that time frame so it must have been Glastron that fitted the turbo.

Was more interested in finding out if i am doing the alternator conversion Right!

Bottom line is if i have removed all wires from the old regulator is this sufficient?
Do any of them have to be reconected else where?

Is the way i am wiring the mando( breand new) correct/ viable?

my new alternator had two wires red and black the black went to coil positive the red went to starter solenoid. ok from the beggining if i remember correctly there is one wire that comes from the side of distributer it goes to the - of coil then the black wire from the new alternator goes to the + of coil that's it your done with coil, i got a wiring harness with the kit it has a red wire that plugs into the red wire of the alternator and there is an end that bolts to the alternator the the other end of harness bolts to the starter solenoid that's it your done. as for the old voltage regulator just snip the wires from the stator and leave on once you snip them there is no power i left everything on less hassle then taking off
