5 years old - little or no problem. Now when it goes in gear (F or R) I got a hollow rubbing noise - gear oil OK - it used to be a metallic scraping sound - occasionally - like the rope mechanism cowl was hitting metal (which it wasn't). Didn't happen much, but gradually more and more, now almost all the time. If I drop the revs to almost nothing, it stops. Power it up and comes on intermittently.
Prop is clear, spins easy in neutral. No hot exhaust water. The outside metal casing about 2 feet up from the prop feels hot, but I am unsure if it is always hot.
The noise sounds like it is matching the prop spin - hollow vroom is the only way I can describe it. It definitely is in the lower end. Any ideas appreciated.
