We just bought a 1965 Merc. 200 We went to test it out and the Water pump wasn't pumping so we took it back and replaced the pump, We then took it out and it was pumping water out from the side cover on the engine, by the rear bolt hole, it has a Crack.. It was not spraying out the check hole in the rear of the engine we tried to blow air up through the hole with no luck.. Can someone tell me how the water is routed through the engine so we can clean out the passage?????

Is there a thermostat?

If so, it might be plugged or bad.

I'm not familiar with that motor, but I think the water only cools the cylinders and head. I think it comes up through the bottom of the power head, by the cylinders, into the cylinder head and to the thermostat(if there is one) and then out the pee hole.

I'm really not sure though. That's just a guess.
