Hello all, I've been in and out of my motor for the past 2 weeks and I cant seem to pin point my issue. If some has had this same problem can you shed some light towards a 15 year boat captain that's dumbfounded. HA

OK here goes: At Initial start motor continuously cranks, once I select neutral overide it fires right away , stay running and idles perfectly.

Batts are fully charged & a new fuel ball. My next step was to rebuild diaphram pump. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

"Neutral Override"?

Are you opening the throttle lever in Neutral, then the motor fires and starts, and all is well then?

If so possibly the carbs are slightly flooding, the additional air clears it.

What motor?

Yes, it fires when i open throttle in neutral. How could the carbs be flooded in the neutral detent without opening the throttle? if anything its a lack of fuel i would think, right? Merc 200 Carb

Too much choke will flood, stuck needle will flood, bad float...etc....etc....
If starting up when using throttle only, you dont have a problem.

Easy enough to check for flooding.

With the motor OFF, open the throttle WOT, trim the motor level, remove the airbox cover, watch inside each carb throat while holding the primer bulb firmly. Is any fuel leaking into any carb throat?

Angler, For cold start up, prime the motor until primer bulb is firm. Advance throttle in "throttle only mode" an inch or so. Hold choke button (or push in key and hold, which ever you have), and crank motor until she fires. Release choke button. If motor revs up, drop throttle back. Use choke if she threatens to die, until she is warm.
