I have a mid 80s 20HP merc that I recently replaced the CDI, rebuilt carb, water pump, and new plugs. The motor always starts right up and for the most part runs strong. occasionally after awhile running it will just die and won't run at full thottle, if I engage the Enriching it will run correctly. I have tried different gas lines and gas tanks (one has a vent the other is the autovent built into cap) and it behaves the same. It does seem to do this one the tanks are about half full. the tanks are plastic so don't think it would be any rust. When it first happenned on the tank with the autovent cap, I took the cap all the way off and it didn't seem to make a difference.
