Merc 2.2 throttle tension

I have an approx 20 year old 2.2. When I set the throttle to full it slips off to a lower RPM. Any suggestions on how to tighten the throttle?<br />The owners manual doesn't get into any details at all.<br /><br />Keith

So do you mean it is not adjustable or you just don't like mercs?

Also the manual states that the low idle mixture screw should be set to 900 - 1000 RPM. Without an engine RPM gauge is there a practical method for setting this?<br />Thanks,<br /><br />Keith
