No. If your alternator is alternating, it will provide the juice to keep the electronics running. How about some history on the problem and your boating habits.

Re: Merc 175, on plane, engin stalls

It is a bass boat, mostly used for fishing 8-10 weekends per year. Occasioally pull the kids tubing.
When it is running , it runs great. It may run fine most of the day, then shut off while on a plane. Sometimes it will start again, usually not. For example; yesterday I put the ears on and it started right up. About an hour later I tried to start it again, and it wouldn't fire. This morning, before going to the lake, it fired right up. At the launch, same. Going down the lake, stalled and wouldn't refire, not even a couple hours later when loading.
All cylinders are at 115. It was a complete rebuild three years ago, 92' model, fuel injected, the oil injector has been removed mixing the fuel.
Thank you!
I also posted the thread about a stff, brittle, fuel line and squeeze ball. Could this be part of the problem.

It could be, change them anyway. Also it sounds to me like you have a loose ignition connection somewhere. (Bad ign. switch, faulty kill switch , Tilt switch or loose ign. wire )
