My Mercury outboard is a 1996 EFI 150 hsp. Has good compression, starts easily and runs smoothly thru the entire power range. Power is good with a top speed of 61mph on my 18 ft bass boat(Skeeter).
Here is my problem. On occasions when trolling at 4-6 mph the engine will suddenly shut off. This problem now occurs at high speed also. the engine will immediately restart without any problems or hesitations. The problems was very sporadic, but recently has become a problem more frequently, to the point I am afraid to use it.
I have checked the fuel line for restrictions and have clear fuel, I also checked the vent and it is open and free. I replaced the filter/water separator last fall and I had not had any problems until about two weeks ago. If anyone can shed some light on what possible problems I may be facing I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance, Don.
