I have a 1992 Mercury 150 Blackmax and need advice with oil injection settings. When the linkage between the oil pump and the throttle is adjusted to the manuals specified mark where the 2 notches line up, the motor runs very rich on oil and smokes excessively. When I say excessive, I mean a dense cloud of smoke that covers the whole back of my boat. <br />I adjusted the idle setting so the smoke was not so excessive and the oil pump still swings to max flow at full throttle. But the idle notch mark on the throttle to oil pump linkage is about 40-50 degress off the stated manual mark. I am using Pennzoil synthetic blend 2 stroke oil and previously have used Quicksilver oil with the same problem. I am running this engine too lean on oil during the lower rpm range? Thanks for the replies, Joe

Just a thought, its very easy to hook the linkage up wrong when cleaning the carbs. If it just looks a bit goofy, it probably is. It can get 180 degrees off. at the pump.
