merc 140 i o wont start when warm

1985 merc i o 140 wont start when its warm turns over but thats it i am thinking its the carb but just a guess any help appreciated thanks

And just how are you trying to start it ?? How long does it sit drifting before you restart it?
Some need the throttle pumped if its a carb model, others just need the throttle open a bit.
It`s not like a car and just turn the key.

ok thanks it starts fine when cold but after reaching fishing ground about 20 minutes it turns over but wont start had to get a tow twice lol thanks

How do you start it cold? Put it in throttle mode and give her a couple pumps? If the carb is not adjusted well... sometimes you will need to open the throttle to get her going after its warmed up. Also, they make a thick carb base gasket to help fight heat transfer. Just something to think about.

LOOK to See whether it's lacking Fuel, or Spark....
