No. Can u see the whole crack? If you can pick up some Marine-Tex. Follow the instructions, make sure the area is oil free clean and dry. Mix according to the directions and apply along the whole crack don’t force to much in the crack, you don’t want to get any in the water passage. The stuff gardens like steel. I’ve fixed car engine blocks with, amazing stuff

How about a couple of pictures: One giving a general view of the area and a second enlargement for fine detail.....like is it really a crack, or a sand casting imperfection, and how is it that the WJ cracked at all, and hot bad? On adhesives, JB Weld is a steel impregnated epoxy, readily available, reliable multi-use product.

If that is as superficial as it looks, rub some silicone caulk over it. If you want to be a big wheel, use black silicone for appearance.

The bigger question is why did it crack? Is the block cracked? Will it crack again?

Crack maybe water expansion, freezing from Do how much pressure is in this case, can JBWELD hold this, pee hole was plugged by wasp mud when I checked leak, may be slower if water could exit pee hole. What happens to water if it leaks out, will it build up in cowling at base of motor? Really appreciate any advice, found new one for sale $200.00 plus labor Thank you

I doubt it was from freezing, as the Block drains(not much thru the Tel-tale) when the engine stops running, then again, in some parts of the World there are some very determined Insects that could possibly climb up the Exhaust System to build nests, that may restrict Drainage. Any Fluids that leak out of the Engine, be it Water. Gas, Oil will all drain from the Cowl Pan, as it has Drains.

If the engine was fully trimmed against the transom the block wouldn't completely drain I would imagine. I would say that the water jacket cover is the weak link in the chain so I'd think it could have a crack and nothing else is hurt....only time will tell.

Water pressure only gets to something like 15 psi so glueing over it is no big worry. I like JB weld too. I'd get a wire brush on my Dremel tool, clean down to the aluminum, JB it and be on your way. On water in the engine proper, there are drains provided for that as in heavy seas, sometimes engines get dunked and there has to be an exit for that, even though they are sealed up otherwise to keep water out and sound in.
