Merc 110- What Year?- Stalls at WOT

Hi Gentlemen, Just bought a used boat and moter. Have not had one in years.Could you please tell me the year or refer me to a site for my Merc 110 serial # 5543378.Also I used it today ,started and idled great. Opened her up and ran fine for a bit then stalled.Got her started again ran at low speed fine, opened her up again and ran for a minute or so then stalled. This problem continued throughout the day. Any suggestions? I appreciate your help.Thanks

You need to check maxrules.com for the year, the website is down at the moment.<br /><br />If you haven't already done it, start with a fresh tank of gas. Check your supply line, especially the fuel filter. If that don't cure your ills - time for a carby cleanout/rebuild.<br /><br />There is also a lot of good tips and information to be had in the FAQ section of these forums.<br /><br />Aldo

Thanks Aldo. I found the year. Fuel filter is new.I even eliminated it today during my maiden voyage. The problem persisted. I thought of a carb rebuild and will do do so. Gas tank holds no presure could that be an issue? Tank was leaking from the lid. Leaked on my new shirt.

The tank should be able to vent, make sure a vent screw/cap is open. Open up the carb and clean it up, spray compressed air in every hole if you have it. Get a carb kit and use the new parts from it. (not required but usually makes for better results)<br />Eric

Could be the fuel pump, try pumping the bulb when it starts to die and see if that helps. If so, rebuild fuel pump. And, yes, make sure that tank is venting! Good luck!
