This weekend, let us remember what this extra day off really means.

Let us remember that we are ALL beneficiaries of those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Often we do not observe Memorial Day day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Let us all stop for a moment this weekend and reach for those floating souls. Let us reveal to those who served how much we cherish their sacrifice for us to be a free people. Let these memories harvest our recognition of the meaning of Memorial Day in a very simple word. And let that word, simply stated be:

Thanks.

LF, Thanks for posting the touching pictures. The Daniel Wood photo of the endless rows of headstones left me teary eyed with a lump in my throat.

Re: Memorial Day....Let us Remember

Well...a double holiday weekend for me....today I celebrate.....or regret, what ever the state of mind....my 59th birthday. Tomorrow I will be honoring those that have scrificed to keep the freedomes I have today, at the our Village Memorial Services. My bithday pales when I think of those that fought...some coming home...some not...on foreign shores and our home soil to keep us all free and enjoy our rights guranteed by our Constitution. We should all be very grateful to those men and women.
