Re: Members with fish tanks

mike- yep, they're Africans and they are quite unsociable. I bought two whan they were small thinking maaaaybe they'll be buds... nope! When fishie puberty hit ol' yeller went psycho and murderd blue in his sleep. Oh well. The only thing meaner was the largemouth I had 20 years ago. Had about 8 (1-2 inches long) in a small tank that would only eat feeder guppies. Lots of them. About thirty a day in fact. They would be swimming around with tails sticking out of their gills and mouths and would STILL try to eat more. I eventually threw them back in the pond.

Steve- nice tank! The only thing it's missing is a busted-off lower end unit decoration!

;) :D

spots

Have had aquariums my entire life, all freshwater...until now. I have a 75 gal. marine with all kinds of life from tangs, butterflies, angels, shrimp, and a few other inverts to name a few. A bit more expensive than fresh, but once established, worth the cost.

your right cjy it is a bit more expensive. especially if you get into the reef style tank. buts also alot more work. i love the salt water tank and have been fighting the urge to set up another one. thats one reason why i am tearing the 125 down and going to africans. to maybe distract me for awhile from the salt bug. also africans are my favorite.

I've had a couple tanks in the past, a 25 and 35 gallon. The 25 had a big ole crawdad, a small Kentucky spotted bass, a albino channel cat, and small brightly colored sunfish.

The 35 gallon I setup similar to natural Wilson Lake bottom. I got a bunch of brownish pea gravel and a large rock and it was inhabited by an albino cat and a small, but plump, smallmouth bass. He loved them small feeder goldfish and occasional cricket.

I've got a 40gal setup in the basement, and a 75 gal that I need to re-seal before I can put it back in service.

My boss gave me a 10gal with a stand and hood this past weekend when he was cleaning out his basement.... $40 later for supplies and I've got it up and running in the living room now.
It's just a cool water tank.
