Today, while I was on the lake, the rectifier on my 1995 mariner 60 horse melted. Is this an easy fix, or a symtom of a larger problem? What would cause this to happen?

Re: Melted rectifier

I'm not an expert on this field, but it sounds like there was a lot of amps being pulled from it. Either a short, bad earth, or are you using some electrical equipment on the boat, like a portable fridge or something?

Re: Melted rectifier

Our rectifier went out on our 125 and I was told it was because we were running the onboard battery charger at the same time. I like the above reply, we have an onboard fridge.

Interesting...

Re: Melted rectifier

Loose battery connection can cause this. Clean & tighten all battery with pliers!!!!!!!! Hop this helps. G
