Measuring shaft length

I have a 1997 225, the model number says it is a 30", but I want to make sure it hasn't been changed. Where do you measure from/to to determine the length?<br /><br />Thanks

Measure from the inside top of the transom clamp (what the weight of the outboard would be on if you hung it on the transom) to the anti-ventilation plate (the flat horizontal plate just above the propeller). Round that number to the nearest 5" increment.<br /><br />Like between the two red arrows below:<br />
