MCM 120 2.5L and Alpha 1 Outdrive

I acuired a 1984 Forester boat with an 2.5L Mercruiser motor a couple weeks ago. My intentions were to fix the boat up and get it water worthy as it had been sitting for 12 years with no use. Yesterday i got the motor running and idiling so i was glad that it wasnt locked up from sitting all those years.

But after looking at it further i found that the floor would all have to be replaced and so would every last bit of interior. I think that it would cost me more money to fix it up then it would to buy another used one.

I am really new to boats so i guess my question is how much do you think i could sell the 2.5L Mercruiser motor (Runs) and the alpha 1 outdrive for? Pulling the motor and Outdrive and selling it will help me afford another boat.

Any opinions would help.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... I'll move this to general boatin', as it ain't 'bout Fixin' yer motor.....

Oh,.... dependin' on it's compression numbers, 'n over all condition,...
Figure you can get 'bout $500. for the motor, Dressed, as pulled from the hull....
$1500. if the guys got a broken boat, 'n wants to go Now....

The drive oughta get ya 'bout $750. on up...

Figure $250. for the transom assembly, if it ain't all corroded...
'n that again for the trim system, 'n other loose parts...
