What do you think about Maxum boats. I am going to look at a 41SCA but from the pics on the add, and from what I have read, it seems that they are a slight upgraded Bayliner. Since they are both owned by Brunswick, is this true and should I stay away from?

Re: Maxum Boats

It's true and nobody makes a junk boat. Maxum and Bayliner are OK, but that's about all. Popular yet somewhat demonized. Entry-level all the way. The ones I'd shy away from are the US Marine versions, but that's more because of age and possibly obsolete power than anything else.

I haven't heard anything about Maxum but have heard plenty about Bayliner. Is there as much negative associated with Bayliner as Maxum?. If I pull up in a Maxum would people say "nice looking boat" but it's a "Maxum" like they do for Bayliner?

Like i said your in a different league of boat and you can NOT compare the rep of a 19' bow rider with a 40' Yatch

Read the reviews in the link i posted as well as the others he has done on used boats you will be supprised what is good and whatt is bad as well as WHY

Rather than go buy here say

Or you could just stick with a Hinckley if your really worried about it :D

Thanks for the links.. A lot of good info. The last one does raise a question: this boat has twin 8.1's. Is the extremely underpowered for a boat 41ft. long that I think weighs abou 27K lbs.?

Maxum is an entry level boat. There are reasons it is priced below other boats of the same size.

At 300 to 500 thousand NEW we are a bit out of entry level :)
