Looks like the wireless card in that from the factory was a wireless B/G which is a max speed of 54mps.

Well, interesting. I didn't have a chance to check the wireless card yet but I did take my LT up to my friend's place this morning and ran a speed test on it. Unlike on my home wireless system where my LT clocked 3 times faster than his (31 mbps vs 9.6 mbps) it clocked the same as his LT did on his wireless system from next door. That was a paltry 1.27 mbps. So if his wireless card is an earlier, slower technology, it doesn't seem to matter any on a slower wireless system.

The latest wireless is but for it to work right it needs to be n series all the way around for the best results. Going to n series doubled my speeds. But you won't be able to exceed what your provider is running.

So now that we have settled the internet speed issue (which was really just a comparative curiosity) it is back to the general balkyness of this laptop.

Now that I have upped the RAM from 512 mb to 4 gb (2.99 kb recognized by XP) I will just have to play with the laptop to see if this remedied the general balkiness of this t*rd. By virtue of the relative available RAM, shown in Task Manager, one could hope that there is an improvement.

How big is the hard drive.....ifin you have used most of the space ....they will to tend to run slow....clean up put a bunch of files on disc or external hard drive.....free up space can make them zippyer.....when your using over 50% of the hard drive space they start running slower
