Max rated HP for 1971 cobia 17' bowrider?

Can anybody tell me how to find out what the Max. HP is for a 1971 cobia bowrider boat or how to find out?

I don't know the rating but a V4 (115-140 hp) should do nicely.

I agree with you.My soninlaw has A friend that got caught by A marine patrol officer once and got A ticket for having too much hourse power on his boat.He didn't have A plate on his boat saying what the max HP was,and I don't have one eigther.Hope I don't have the same luck.That's why I'm trying to find out what the max HP is.

we had a 69' 18 ' cobia, 115 johnson, was more than a enough. david@custommarinelabels.com can fixt you right up with a sticker that show whats required. you tell him what you want, and he makes it .. max persons, max weight, max hp. you stick it next to the control box and you are legal. i've use him several times, for boats that have lost the plate. very inexpensive also. goes thru paypal.

200hp at least come on .... I have a 200hp yummie on a 16.5 foot ......

I've got a 150 merc on a 17 footer and it does 54-55 on GPS with the stock aluminum prop and trimmed up. I can only imagaine what it would do with a stainless speed prop...My 17 footer is rated at 150 h.p max by the way
