Where in the world would I find the paint color/code for my 1979 Crestliner Crusader 550 Cuddy. I have just done some gelcoat repairs and wish to be able to have a paint distributor mix the matching color. It is sort of a Creme or light Almond Color. Unfortunately. There is no removable part with the correct color I could take for computerized matching.

You wont will never get a perfect match that is just the way it is your paint is old and the folks that do a paint match have to mix spray and let dry to see how close it is to match up. 1979 there is no code.

A good body shop or a paint shop will have a portable color scanner. If your boat is on a trailer it's an option

I believe I may do the roller and tipping thing and give the boat a whole new look. It is a 1980 Crestliner Crusader 550 in pretty good condition. I try to keep it nice and I use it specifically for fishing. Numerous gel coat spider cracks that need attention. Will Dremel them out, fill, and make a decision on full paint or try matching touch up.

A friend of mine did that and the cracks kept coming back. It turned out to be an annual job.

Interesting. Good thing I'm retired. I want to get a couple more years out of this one. Then probably an aluminum half cabin. Have to keep it lightweight for easy launch and trailoring. I usually fish alone in Lake Erie and other inland lakes.
