Mariner tilt problem

Hey fellas I,ve just joined the site and this is my first post, my problem is I have an old 80s model mariner 30hp on a 4.1 quintrex, somewhere along the way someone has put a johnson trim/tilt motor on it which doesn't tilt the motor all the way up basically it will only go to shallow drive. I am looking for a second hand mariner tilt motor but they are proving to be very hard to come by and was wondering if anybody had any ideas where I might find one, or if it is possible to modify the johnson to lift it higher.
