I am buying my first motorized boat, 1984 Grumman 16' w/ Mariner 1984 40HP 2-stroke SN: 6E9 412854. This was a package from Grumman when purchased new.
I understand the importance of having good technical information.
Where and what is the best engine manual for maintenance and repair. Are the aftermarket manuals worth the $? Could anyone supply me with a link or information to somewhere that may have new or used manuals. I want to have the proper tools and info in place before I tackle anything.
I have taken the boat out and ran it for approx. 45 mins to try everything out. I took along a friend who has a boat and it seemed like everything was in pretty good shape for a 1984. The (3) of us together was about 700 lbs (people), we would run about 20 mph, engine started well.
Any additional advice on my boat setup is appreciated.
