I picked up a 1989 Mariner 90hp outboard.
The owner told me it stalls on idle in few second but it runs if gear is engaged in forward or reverse just before it stalls. He showed me the prop rotating when he put in forward. The boat was sitting outside since summer of 2008.
I changed old gas with new gas while waiting for service manual to arrive.
With old gas, it cranks but nothing happen.
With new gas, it canks and idle while I holding the ignition key in second click.
I am going to clean the carburreter when I get the manual. Do you think it could be the carb problem or should I look for something else...
Any suggestiong will help, this is first time with 2cycle engine and first boat experience. I really want to take this out on lake this weekend.
