Mariner 30 hp/What year is it?

Hi all...I am trying to do some work on this Mariner 30 H.P. outboard and do not know what year it is. The serial number is 69S 108426 Model # 30E0. I believe it is around 1990 but need to be sure to order a shop manual for this thing.<br />Also I am told that this is really a YAMAHA engine under the Mariner cover...Is this really true? All help is appreciated. :confused:

Well the only tag on the motor is on the bracket that holds it to the transom. It is a metal plate that says Model: 30E0 Ser: 108426 Code 69S. They are the only numbers on it. :(

fone_man I sure hope you did not TYPE all that stuff just for my sake!!! My goodness I am definately going to print that out!! <br />I had to get an ignition module this summer(CDI BOX). I got 2 pieces wrong because the local dealer said that my serial number was no good at all.I can't figure why this is such a busride! I eventually got the right part but was then told that the 69s meant that it was a Yamaha engine under thr Mariner name for that year or so. I will take your information and go all over the engine in search of another number! Thanks alot for your time and help.<br />By the way where is the best place to get the best shop manual.<br />This engine keeps blowing out the CDI ignition box and I can't figure out why... :confused:

I have checked all my sources so far... I have come up with the 2 digit numerical & 1 digit alpha EX: 67F under Yamaha but everything under Mariner is coming up 3 digit numerical EX: 689... I am at a loss. That does't mean your number is not correct, just a fluke that is not published.... As for typing all info in post... that is what "control + C" is great for... COPY!!!!<br /><br />Sorry I could not help but I will keep it on the back burner!<br /><br /> :(

fone_man...I found a better number sequence on that Mariner 30 hp that you were helping me out on last weekend. It is a Mariner 30 hp Model : Mar 30-EO SERIAL number is: 689s108426. It has an OIL INJECTION cover on it.From the information you gave me is this a 1987??<br /> Thanks,<br /> Bill<br /> :p
