Got a 1996 mariner 30 elo (2 cylinder single carb with oil injection). Looking to remove oil system and mix manually. Anyone know the procedure to do this? Can I leave the oil pump attached to the block? Just disconnect and plug oil pump lines? Will there be a warning system that needs to be over ridden so it doesn't put the motor into a fail safe mode? Thanks for any help with this

Why....the Merc unit is one of the better oil injection units. My 1992 works flawlessly

Yeah you are probably right. I guess I'll keep it
Test it out and make sure it is working as the motor is new to you. I always look for a puff of smoke on initial startup for the first minute or two, after that you hardly notice any. Keep a close eye on your oil tank to be sure it is working. I fill my oil tank each time I fill my 18 gallon floor tank whether it needs oil or not. You would be surprised how many people have issues because they run low on oil, not with oil pump failures. If you had a VRO system my recommendation might be different...

Is there a way to check if oil is being delivered?

Some folks premix their fuel for a while until they see the oil going down in the reservoir. It will make a heavy oil mix but you won't hurt anything. Some folks premix at 100 or 75 to one , while they are watching for the oil in the reservoir to drop so the oil mix is not so heavy.
