Hi,
Mariner 90 hp, 1996. 3cyl.
Problem
It starts ok, and if I am careful with the throttle I can get it up to approximate 4000rmp. If I then push further it starts to “miss fire” and the rpm drops. This only seems to work once form cold engine, when I take I down to idle again, it do not run properly, and I cannot get it up in rpm again.
History:
1 year ago it was partly flooded when it was on its way up on a trailer. Immediate after this, I flushed the water from carburetors, sprayed with crc and started. I looked fine, and was stored for the offseason. This season it did not run. Thinking it might be a fuel problem, I cleaned the carbs, changed the membrane in the fuel pump and filter. No luck, it started “in a way” but when put in gear it stalled. Then I handed it over to “professionals”. He said the stator was gone, changed that(Pictures) and it ran fine for 2-3 hours divided on 3 trips then went to the state described in the problem . This is 3 weeks ago. He is now on holidays, and it is high season so not able to get any appointment for professional help until the season is over.
Question.
To me it seems like another problem than the original, when the stator was changed. The stator is new, that leaves me with “trigger”, “switch box”, coils and sparkplugs. Is it possible to pinpoint the problem to some of these components or do I have to get all these parts, or maybe more? ~I have measured the resistance on these components without getting any obvious out-of-range results.
Regard
Helge
