Mariner 1988 115 6 cyl 2 stroke Boggs when put in gear

Idles at about 1000 rpm all day long but sometimes when I put it in gear and throttle up can’t get it over 2000 rpm. Only to back it down and keep trying. But when it catches I running up to 5500 +. New plugs, new gas line, new stator, new gas. Need ideas

Why when I push the throttle to speed up it just Boggs and try’s to stall.

Those carbs do not have accelerator pumps, so you need a rich idle mixture to allow acceleration. Racer's recommendation is sound.

Idle RPM should be 850 or so in gear. Anymore and she will slam into gear.
