Hope I'm not duplicating a thread here and tried due diligence in making sure this question hasn't been exactly asked. Sorry if so!
I have a 1985 Mariner 5. I turn it to choke and it cranks, however when I flip it to run it dies. If I turn it from choke to run on VERY high RPMs, it will occasionally not die, however while running in neutral it is very hair-trigger ... either it runs super high or dies out. On the occasion that I can get it to run in gear, it appears to run smooth.
I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it twice. I have cleaned out the area where the spark plug is - it was a bit gunky but not too bad. I have changed the fuel and am now out of options. Any advice is helpful and apologies if I can't answer questions too quickly (don't have regular internet) or too knowledgeably (pretty new to all this). Thanks for the help--
