Mariner 15 hp year and parts group?

Hello all. i'm new to the forums and boating in general.

I just bought a used Mariner 15 hp and am asking for help in determining the year and parts group.

Tag on port side of transom mount reads:

MARINER 15M
684 C(S010646)

stamped numbers/letter are in parenthesizes. there is a stamped "R" in the lower left side of the tag as well next to "MADE IN JAPAN". i tried to upload a pic, but was unsuccessful.

Made by Yamaha, your 15M is a 1980 model, short shaft, manual start.

Serial # range for 1980: 684-006281 to 684-011230.

Thanks so much for the response. i was told it was a 1985. it has a aftermarket paint job to match the former boat.
