Took my boat in last fall and had them replace the impeller on my outboard. This year I only had the boat in the water a few times and noticed that that the flow of cooling water was quite weak and almost no water would go through when mote was trimmed (even when just lightly trimmed). About a week ago an over heating alarm went off on the boat so I pulled her out right away. I checked the lower case oil and found the water in the oil. I discovered that the O ring was missing from the upper drain screw.
I took boat back to ***** and they told me that I must have dropped the O ring when I removed the screw. If that was the case, how did water get in the lower case? They removed lower end, replaced the impeller (the one they replaced from the previous fall had no more than 5 hours on it), and now cooling water now shoots strongly even when motor is trimmed. They blamed the weak flow on weeds caught in the thermostat (was told by another boat tech that this was most likely not the issue) and offered no explanation on water in the oil other than suggesting that I must have removed the screw on another occasion and lost the O ring (unlikely since they were the last ones to work on the motor).
Here is the kicker. They charged me full pop the 2nd time around to perform what I paid them to do last fall. They took no ownership in the problem and offered no compensation or discount (even charge me $20 for lower case oil ? talk about kicking a guy in the teeth when he is down).
Looking to hear from others on their experience with ****** ? both positive and negative.
