Marine Plywood To Seal or Not To Seal

I have been reading alot about sealing pressure treated plywood. <br /><br />Do you have to seal marine grade plywood? I am rebuilting some panels on my boat and I was wondering if had to seal my marine grade plywood.<br /><br />What would place recommend using?<br /><br />Thanks in Advance,<br />Shawn

Yes, It is a good idea to seal your marine ply. It is no different then any other ply, except that that the glue they use to bond the different plys might be a little better grade, and, there are no voids between layers. But it will rot as fast as regular extierier ply if not sealed. Are these pannels you are rebuilding inside or outside your boat? If they are inside, and limited to water and moisture, I'd say you could go with a good exterier ply, with one good, smooth side. But give it a couple of coats of an epoxy resin all over especially the edges. I would suggest using marine ply if you were fixing the outside hull or transom. You'll save a few $$ This is only my opinion, and exprience.

Yes, always seal marine ply.
