Marine plywood for seats question

Hello, I am getting ready to have the seats done for my 15' starcraft and I have purchased some marine plywood to build them. I have seen many people cover the wood with some sort of poly or sealant. What would that be?

Mine will be covered with marine vinyl, but I do not want to miss an important step.

Thanks in advance

Also, I am still unsure whether my boat is a 1963 or 1964. Any idea how I might find out?

Re: Marine plywood for seats question

Most of us use Epoxy. You can get it from US Composites. I used the thin with medium hardener (3:1).
