Does any one know where I can get cheap marine grade plywood around New Jersey. I am trying to rebuild my transom. If all possible i would like not to pay an arm and a leg for it also. So if anyone has a cheaper fix then marine grade plywood that would be helpful too!

any good lumber yard will either have it or be able to order it for you. I just got a sheet of 3/4 marine ply and paid 65 bucks. Don't know if it's a good price or not but the local lumber yard had it in stock. Home depot is not likely to stock it. Sure doesn't look like anything special. Is it treated at all or is it just the "no voids" thing that makes it special? I soaked the heck out of mine with 2 coats of oil based paint to help it last a bit longer too.

More plys, laid at designated alternating orientations, all voids are filled, and laminated with adhesive that is not water soluble.

But, apart from the above, the wood in it is still wood and will rot if allowed to get wet. It may take longer, and the glue won't fall apart, but wet wood will still rot eventually.

It costs more and the kind we got sure is pretty. It's gotta be special...

Nah in all seriousness, I've never seen as nice a piece of plywood as the marine grade we are using. It's very light and seems pretty stout compared to other types.

Can someone give me a name other then home depot or lowes. The local lumber yards by me (petter lumber, tri county, 84 lumber) all told me they do not stock it and I don't really want to pay extra for shipping.
