ESPN's Myron Medcalf said today, "The Hawkeyes don't consistently guard anyone..." There's your story.
I think Fran is a very good coach in many ways but he can't coach defense to save his life nor can any of his assistants apparently. Hawk fans have been complaining about this for years. "We don't need no stinkin' defense. We'll just outscore 'em." Doesn't always work.
In the B10 tournament Hawks played some tremendous defense and we were beginning to think they had turned the corner. Then Richmond. Oh well.
