Re: manual trim too power trim

the single ram manual assist trim (I call it lift & lock) is upgradeable to power trim. Compatibility issues are avoided by using the existing ram and replacing the manual pump with a power pump and adding switch-relay wiring. This is not a mercury sanctioned upgrade as the resulting trim system does not have a trim bypass spool to prevent lifting the engine out of water while running. In order to do the upgrade you need a complete and working trim pump off of a Force 199x 75HP engine. Some parts are not sold separately and some parts may need machining. The cost of having it done ranges from $260 to $400. Once the boating season starts, this upgrade is a recurring advertisement on eBay. The cost of doing it yourself is the cost of finding a Force 75HP system of acceptable quality and durability plus a few hours of time.
