I have a 1987 25HP mariner manual start. Is <br />there a kit to convert to electric and if so<br />how much do they run.<br />Thanks :p

They don't make a kit, but your motor comes ready to except bolt-on starter parts. Check the outside edge of the flywheel for gear teeth. If it has them, you are halfway there.If not, you'll have to replace the flywheel,buy a starter and a solenoid,wires,battery,ignition switch,...Bolt it all up,and you are good to go.<br />I would scour the local boatyards and ebay for good used parts...Because this aint gonna be cheap.<br />And while you are at it, look around for a good used choke solenoid and the plunger.It will bolt right up to yours,and you might as well,as you won't be back at the engine to choke and de-choke.<br />Happy hunting, and I hope you get some good bargains.
