manual help please

I need to get manuals for my boat. The boat is a 1980 23' Chris Craft Scorpion 230. The engine is a Chevy 350 SGi V8 (circa 1994 I think)with closed cooling, originally from a Volvo Penta set up, now in a Mercruiser set up with with center risers. I am not sure what the original Mercruiser setup was, but it had the same engine size.<br /><br />The outdrive is Alpha 1 # OD554000.<br /><br />Can someone please direct me to the correct manuals?<br /><br />Thank You in advance.

Mercruiser #9.....Go to stemtostern.com to make sure there are no superseding volumes though.....JK

The outdrive is an Alpha, service manual #6 from Mercruiser is the one you want. It covers the transom shield and drive. It's online at the link below.<br /><br /> http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/6/6covr3.pdf <br /><br />Check for a model number on your engine, someting like 5.7GSi ???? Never heard of a SCi

On the engine is cast 57LC SGI. On a tag is a number L166. I saw some SGi engines listed at stemtosterm.com for year 1997, but the exhaust risers are a little different from their diagrams.<br />Does this help any?<br /><br />I think the outdrive might be a Alpha 1 Gen II

The drive you listed as SN OD554000 is not a Gen II drive, and the link I gave earlier is the link to the manual for the drive with that serial number.<br />Have no idea what that engine is, but it's not a Volvo number.

Thanks DonS. I will try digging deeper here on the history of this engine and let you know what I uncover. <br /><br />Thanks also for the OD link. The list I found the Mercruiser drive serial number listed as a Alpha1 GenII (1991-1994) was from Shorts Marine on line. No problem, I'll use your link.
