the new mako's, sold at Bass Pro, do not have the same reputation as the old ones made in the 70's and 80's which were bullet proof.
However, on a small boat, to some degree, a hull is a hull, and how bad can it be? the hardware may be lightweight, but really all you care about is the motor. just be sure it isn't underpowered; that's a common trick to lower sticker price, too.
