I recently purchased a brand new Mako 234 from Buster's Marine in New York City. I have had several problems already with engine, pumps, hatches, electronics etc. Each issue has been a life or death struggle to get this dealer to fix the problem(s). I love the boat and the engine(Honda 225). I knew this dealers reputation prior to purchasing the boat, but used him anyway because of the proximity to my marina. I can say now, "that I would drive the boat to Montauk", rather than deal with this character to fix the problems. If anyone out there is thinking about buying a boat from this "Huxter", I strongly advise seeing a doctor!!! I made a mistake because of conveinance. Now I'm paying the price! Can anyone advise me on the best course of action to remedy the problem????????? I'm Pissed!

The new Mako's ain't great, in fact I've looked at several and worked on one and they have become a real disappointment over the last few years, sorry for your troubles.

I had a Robalo prior for 10 years and I beat that boat to hell and back and never had a problem. Now I'm regetting buying this boat so far...maybe it will change. Why do you think the Mako's have gone down?

their build quality has been on a downslide for 10 years or so, the one I worked on was less than 6 months old, no clamps on the fill hose for the fuel tank, none. Guy filled it up but this time when he pushed the nozzle in a little further he pushed the hose off and the fuel went in the bilge.

WoW! Could you imagine the possiblities!? Many people could have be hurt killed...BOOOM!

Sorry about your luck. Usually when locals really talk badly about a dealership it's best to avoid it at all costs. We have a motorcycle/car dealer by my work with a horrible/well deserved reputation. Of course hindsight is always 20/20.

if he is a dealer for both motor and boat, contact the manufacturers, they are the ones to back the warranty. and should make the dealer make it right. he gets paid by them for all his warranty work.
