This past November I made a spread sheet of all the parts I would need to make my boat the way I want it. Included electronics, various hardware, fuel tank, hard top, etc. The spread sheet includes prices of the part, and a web link to the supplier. When I checked on some of these links last night, the prices were higher than what I had on the spread sheet. For example, the stainless steel fuel fill had increased in price from about $17.00 to $19.23 as of this morning.

I better get a move on and order all the parts I need before the prices go up any farther!!!!!

But that doesn't mean prices aren't negotiable.

I'd suggest sending your supplier an e-mail with a list of the parts you want and the price you are willing to pay.

Does it work? Sometimes. After shopping all over the Internet looking for a deal on a German-made cannister vacuum cleaner I wanted, and seeing all of the dealers had the same price and none of them offered discounts, I decided to send an e-mail to one of them and made them a serious offer $100 off. Asked for free shipping (but ground, not next-day air like their website offered). That was on a Sunday night. Item arrived Thursday morning.

This is a different economy than last fall. Businesses today are more likely to listen to any reasonable offer.

Good hunting!

Prices are always negotiable. Who pays the car price on the sticker ?

This of course doesn't apply in a retail store such as Sears or Wal-Mart.

High ticket items, such as a washing machine i just bought, can be negotiated.

Washing machine gave up the ghost after me fixing it and making love to it for 15 years.

Went online checked all the big stores and lowe's had the one. Went in and it was on sale, but had to be ordered, and i have to pay for shipping.

I said im here let's throw it in the back of my truck latter for shipping.

We don't have it except the display and he pulls it out has a small ding on the side.

I said no shipping 50 bucks off the sale price and lend me a hand truck i'll move it.

He said 25 bucks off the sale price and my guy will load it for you. No shipping.

I said deal and my wife has been washing cloths with it sinse june.
