After being berated by some random forum moderator--some Admiral of the Sea or something--for buying an after-market Sierra exhaust bellows that split in two within the first six months (although I thought supporting iboats.com was a good thing), I ordered a Quicksilver exhaust bellows from some other website.

On the Quicksilver label, there it was....Made in China.

What makes a Quicksilver bellows better than the Sierra, since they're probably made at the same Chi-Comm factory?

Re: Made in China OEM?

it's called quality control. Anyone can make cheap copies of anything. But the OEM of anything will have specs that the supplier must follow. If they don't follow the specs from the OEM, then they can't be the supplier for that part.
Of course, if you are not the OEM and only want to sell aftermarket parts cheap, your specs are a lot looser and you don't follow up with quality control inspections (Those cost $$$$$ don't ya know) then you end up with cheap junk.
