Lubricating commander 3000 contr. box

Having problems with stiff shifting. Wanting to lubricate the control box before trying to replace cables. How do you remove the control box cover to get inside the box?

Usually two screws through the box to the boat then two additional screws within the box.\
You have to move the lever to get to one of the screws
