lubing merc 1985 75hp ob

i have a 1985, 75 hp merc ob. i want to make sure the lower end is lubed. i see a scew that says vent,but no place to add lubricant.. what am i missing?

You are missing the plug that says "drain/fill" below the propshaft bulge.

DO NOT take the phillips screw out. That is not it.

JB - Are there phillips screws on Mercs? I thought they were OMC things for manual shift motors.

thx.. i see the slotted screw below the bulge... that make sense where to drain from.... but you fill from there to?? seems like it wd run right back out as you fill it??

Mike, you fill from the bottom. When it runs out the top, insert the top plug and tighten. Now insert the bottom plug quickly. Use new gaskets on both plugs.

There should be 2 plugs near each other higher up.

Mike, you fill from the bottom. When it runs out the top, insert the top plug and tighten. Now insert the bottom plug quickly. Use new gaskets on both plugs.
